Red Light Therapy for Wrinkles and Anti-Aging

Fine lines, loss of firmness, and dull tone happen as collagen production slows. Topicals can hydrate the surface… but they don’t do much for the deeper biology. Light therapy uses specific red and near-infrared wavelengths to energize cells and nudge fibroblasts to make more collagen and elastin. The result… smoother texture and healthier looking skin over time. Mechanistically, red/NIR light is absorbed by mitochondrial chromophores like cytochrome-c-oxidase, increasing ATP and modulating inflammatory pathways. Kivo light therapy provides cellular energy to support repair and collagen remodelling.

Clinical evidence

Split-face and facial rejuvenation trials show wrinkle-depth reductions and collagen improvements using ~633 nm red and ~830 nm NIR. In one study, profilometry confirmed statistically significant wrinkle improvement, with EM showing thicker collagen fibers after 633 nm + 830 nm LED sessions.  A controlled PBM trial also reported better skin feeling and appearance with non-thermal full-body light… supporting safety and efficacy for photorejuvenation.  A 2023 split-face RCT on periocular wrinkles found measurable wrinkle-volume reductions with 660 nm red at matched dose.

Treatment plan with Kivo

• Panel: Kivo Vital for Red + NIR, or Kivo Elite if you want pulse and brightness control.

• Mode: Red + NIR together.

• Session: 20 minutes, face 20–30 cm from the panel. Eyes closed or use eye protection.

• Frequency: 3–4 times weekly for 8–12 weeks… then 2–3 times weekly for maintenance.

• Tips: Clean, dry skin… no SPF or reflective makeup during sessions. Take a baseline photo and re-shoot at weeks 4, 8, and 12.

Why Kivo?

Larger coverage beats tiny wands for even dosing. Elite adds pulse options if you prefer that modality. If you want blue mode too for occasional blemishes, consider the Kivo Pro.
